Easy How-To Pesticide Remover

If you're unable to get organic fruits and vegetables, an acid wash can remove many chemical residues from pesticide sprayed conventional produce.

freshly washed cherries

Ingredients:

Your fresh produce
I cup white vinegar (5% acetic acid)
water

Instructions:

  1. Place your produce in a bowl in the sink.

  2. Pour vinegar over produce.

  3. Fill bowl with water.

  4. Soak hard fruits & veggies for 10-20 minutes, then scrub with a veggie brush and rinse.

  5. For grapes & cherries, soak for 60 minutes.

Notes:

Many patients ask, but rest assured this soak does not impart a vinegar flavour to your food!
